Campus parkland site
Design
: The Lyric stands amongst trees on sloping ground beside the Lagan. Seen
from the river, it is an object building in parkland, a luminous, translucent
presence. On Ridgeway Street, the Lyric holds one corner of a continuous system
of brick streets, the last building in the grid. The Lyric belongs to the
street and the river.
It is anchored to its site, built in angular Belfast brick, and it is floating
in the Lagan haze, with flowing spaces for public circulation. It is embedded,
permanent, here to stay and it is dynamic, fluid, open to change.
